As I went through my statistics this week I realized that there were 3 strategies that have worked the best for myself (and my students):

  1. Stay up-to-date: When things are trending the world like Tesla layoffs or a report on the insane salaries of the average CEO in 2023 - comment on it. There are millions of people with the same thing top of mind so one of the best ways to get visibility is to say something about what everyone is thinking.

My student Jai make this post the morning after a major layoff and it got more than 1.5 million impressions.

Jai’s post got 21,000+ likes

  1. Lean into universal experiences: We’ve all had good bosses and bad bosses. Most of us have burnt out at some time in our lives. We’ve all at some point had to negotiate for a raise or promotion. And almost all of us have had a job that affects our mental health or quality of life.

If we haven’t personally experienced any of these, we know someone who has. These are universal experiences that anyone can relate to at any point in their lives.

So whether you are a founder, a CEO, an employee or an investor, you have stories people can relate to in this area - share them.

Over 3,000 people related to Angela’s post about burnout leading to more that 200,000 impressions on this viral post.

  1. Help people get better: LinkedIn is the one place that people come to look for a better situation in their lives. That could mean a new job, resources, connections or anything that leads to progress.

One sure way to get more people to see your content is to give them something that genuinely helps them take that step forward. That could be a list of job boards, books, TED Talks or AI tools.

This works so well because readers naturally share resources with their network. It makes them look good to the people that follow them.

That’s why this post by Simi got over 250,000 impressions teaching people how to negotiate their salaries.

Simi’s post got over 2,600 engagements

If you make it a priority to follow one of these 3 strategies every week, eventually people will start to consider you as an authority and your engagement will reflect that.

And the more visible you are on LinkedIn, the more people want to pay to work with you. This student closed over $17,000 in revenue in her second month after retiring from corporate to build her own business.
